Local authorities in Vigo want to cut down 450 black poplars, so as to avoid allergies.
But, in fact, some university teachers think that these trees are the ones who best absorbe carbon dioxide. In many countries black poplars are considered a symbol to fight pollution.

planting trees on the Santiago Compostela route

Pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela can throw seeds on the air while walking as a way to reforest this route. This idea was adapted for a foundation "mas árboles (trees)". The seeds are prepared by handicapped people with a Japanese technique consisting on wrapping the seeds in mud balls.
